We were all ready at 7.30am and off we went to Changi Village to meet 三姑Molly and her family. For most of us, it was the first time to Pulau Ubin. We had breakfast at Changi Village and headed to the jetty at 9.30am. Jeriel was so excited when he got on the boat. The boat trip costs $2.50 per pax for a way. :)
Upon arrival at the island, we went to the visitor information counter to obtain a map and started to plan our visit. After 'serious' discussions, :) we decided to go to Chek Jawa by van rather than cycling. The lady of bicycle rental shop suggested that we should take the van as we have old folks and kids with us, hence not so safe to cycle. Well, so we approached a friendly-looking uncle and 'tested' our bargaining skills. The best rate we could get - $4 for per pax to Chek Jawa.
A wild boar was what we saw when we reached the entrance of Chek Jawa. Jeriel was so excited to have such a close-up encounter. We followed the directions provided by the NPark warden at the visitor information counter. We walked almost 2 hours around Chek Jawa - to the broadwalk, mangrove, viewing tower and the visitor information house. Along the way, we saw fishes, spiders, hermit crabs, a huge lizard (don't know what's that called but it looked like a komodo dragon).
After the long nature walk, we visited the temple and went back to the jetty area for lunch. The lunch was only so-so. Jeriel had so much fun and refused to go home.. but he was tired after the trip and fell asleep immediately when we got into our car.
